I work with…

  • Individuals who would like private therapy instead of, or alongside, NHS input.

  • Clients who live in East Sussex, West Sussex, Kent and Surrey.

  • Case managers and solicitors.

  • Private health insurance companies - Aviva and AXA (I am not currently taking clients with BUPA cover).

Assessment

During the initial session a detailed case history is taken and the client’s communication and/or swallowing difficulties are fully assessed. This usually takes 1 - 2 hours.

A report can be provided for the client detailing the assessment findings.

I generally see clients in their homes or rehabilitation units but therapy can take place anywhere that would be useful.

Sometimes assessment and advice is all that is required, but usually the assessment will highlight the areas that therapy can focus on improving.

Therapy

Following the assessment, goals/aims will be set. Therapy will then work towards meeting these goals.

My approach is flexible depending on the needs of the client. It can be one-to-one or include family, carers, friends or work colleagues.

Therapy is very much led by the client’s personal goals. Therefore sessions can focus on returning to work, participating in hobbies or communicating with family.

All cases are individual but input can include:

  • Providing relevant information and advice

  • Introducing strategies to compensate for impairments

  • Carrying out exercises to improve function

  • Providing links to local support networks

  • Referral for communication aids where needed
